Who’s behind this?

Blue Sky Center

A nonprofit organization building models for resilient, thriving, and inclusive rural economies. As a place-based organization, the creative team prioritizes projects and collaborations that celebrate the abundance of Cuyama while supporting local entrepreneurs and businesses. The nonproft has been a fixture in the Cuyama Valley for nearly a decade.

Blue Sky launched Cuyama Beverage Co. to support the local food system by making meads and other alcoholic beverages with ingredients sourced entirely from the Cuyama Valley.

Cuyama Beverage Co.

This newly launched mead company, and social enterprise is passionate about creating unique, small batch beverages where success means the success of the local farms they work with. Produced by Blue Sky Center, the company aims to quench one’s thirst with their refreshing meads and desert tonics that directly supports the local Cuyama Valley economy, the workers, the land, and ethos. The result is a product that embodies the region and can be shared not only in Cuyama but will be sold outside the valley as well.

Rock Front Ranch

Rock Front Ranch is a supplier of raw honey and jujube superfruits, in addition to having a horse and livestock facility on property. Rock Front is a member of The California Rare Fruit Growers Organization and their honey is state-of-the-art NMR tested for purity and quality. Rock Front Ranch is certified organic and uses regenerative agriculture practices.

Their delicious and nutritious honey is the basis of Cuyama Beverage Co.’s meads.

High Desert Print Co.

This printing company, located at Blue Sky Center with a sister company, Island View Outfitters, based in Santa Barbara, aims to be an axis for purposeful art, catalyzing thought, energy, and purpose. They are here to be the form of expression, the voice for the message, a community hub for creation, and a network to cultivate relationships from this rural town outward into new communities.

They have collaborated with Cuyama Beverage Co. to help design the creative assets for the company.

Cuyama Buckhorn

The iconic property, originally built in 1952 as the community hub for the Cuyama Valley, at a time when New Cuyama was a booming oil town, has been re-imagined as an elevated resort retreat nestled in The Hidden Valley of Enchantment, with thoughtfully crafted meals, a bar where conversation flows effortlessly, 21 newly refined rooms with stylistic nods to the past, and 2 acres of artfully designed outdoor space. The food, design, and creative spirit of Cuyama Buckhorn is inspired by the rich history of the local community and the bounty of Cuyama Valley.

Cuyama Buckhorn works to highlight the products and goods originating from the valley in every area of the property, from the food and beverage offerings in the bar and restaurant, to the mini bar trays in the guest rooms, to the retail products and farm fresh produce and groceries in their market.

Cuyama Beverage Co. beverages, as well as products made by High Desert Print Co. and Rock Front Ranch can be found throughout Cuyama Buckhorn.
